A new Erasmus+ project in IM UKEN

We are pleased to announce that the UKEN Institute of Mathematics has become a partner in the next Erasmus + project “DATA-READY – Empowering Education through the Integration of Data Literacy in Compulsory Education“.
The project focuses on developing an innovative approach to teaching skills related to data analysis and interpretation, with particular emphasis on mathematics as a scientific discipline. The aim of the project is not only to raise the level of data literacy among primary and secondary school students, but also to support mathematics teachers in integrating this topic into the implemented curricula.
As part of the project, a standardised and research-based model of education in data literacy, based on mathematical methodology and tools, will be developed. This model will be a comprehensive resource for teachers and educational decision-makers, supporting them in creating modern and effective teaching strategies. Particular emphasis will be placed on the professional development of mathematics teachers, who will have access to specialised training and teaching materials based on current research in the field of mathematics education. Thanks to the research, analysis and pilot activities, the project will provide empirically justified recommendations for decision-makers at national and European level. These conclusions will contribute to the development of sustainable and effective systemic solutions in the field of teaching mathematics and data analysis competences.
The project is implemented by institutions from five European Union countries: Greece, Portugal, Germany, Poland and Cyprus. All results will be developed in close cooperation between partners, taking into account various educational contexts. The involvement of decision-makers, education authorities and stakeholders aims to give priority to mathematics education enriched with elements of understanding data as a key component of 21st century competences.
